The Mental Side of Baseball

 Baseball is a lot more mental then many people may think and probably involves more thought then any other mainstream sport (Football, Soccer, Hockey, Baseball, Basketball). In a 162 game Major League season, and a still 100+ game season for kids as young as 15, baseball involves a lot more thinking then normal sports. There is always another guy who wants to move up in the ranks and take your spot. Every single player, no matter how amazing they are at the sport, will go through a slump then can last weeks, maybe months, where a player will have a terrible batting avg. and more errors then you can count on both your hands. However, a baseball player must realize that they will come out of it eventually. They'll get pressure from all over the place. Friends, girlfriends, parents - 'Why don't you get a real job?' You hear that all the time. But if this is your passion, you go for it. You got this far, nothing's stopping you. And a lot of times, guys don't have that mentality, but that's the kind of mentality you got to have. They say baseball is about 50% physical and 50% mental, I like to think of it as about 90 percent mental and the other half physical.
